2 Kings 20-21

Scripture – 2 Kings 20-21

Observation – 

  • 2 Kings 20:1-11 - Hezekiah is healed by God
    • 2 Kings 20:1 - Isaiah's announcement to Hezakiah
    • 2 Kings 20:2-3 - Hezekiah's prayer
    • 2 Kings 20:4-7 - Isaiah brings God’s answer to Hezekiah’s prayer.
    • 2 Kings 20:8-11 - God’s sign to Hezekiah: the retreating shadow.
  • 2 Kings 20:12-21 - Hezekiah’s reception of the Babylonian messengers.
    • 2 Kings 20:12-13 - Hezekiah shows the riches of his kingdom out of pride.
    • 2 Kings 20:14-18 - Hezekiah is rebuked by the Lord
    • 2 Kings 20:19-21 - Hezekiah's interesting reaction and end of his reign
  • 2 Kings 21:1-18 - The reign of Manasseh, son of Hezekiah
    • 2 Kings 21:1-2 - A summary of the reign of Manasseh, a 55-year rule of evil.
    • 2 Kings 21:3-9 - The specific sins of Manasseh.
    • 2 Kings 21:10-15 - God promises judgment against Judah.

Examples to follow – Ask God and he will listen, but he will not always do what you ask.

Examples to not follow – Don't respond in the wrong way to punishment

Sins to avoid – Child Killing. Altars. Putting things before God.

Promises to claim – 

Commands to obey –

Application – Respond in the right way to punishment: humble and with a heart that realizes what you did wrong.

Prayer – Heavenly Father. Help me to respond in the right way to punishment. Help me to not respond wrongly like Hezekiah did. Help me to be humble, and realize what i did wrong, rather than brush it off because it won't affect me. Amen.
