2 Kings 22-23:1-20

Observation – 

  • 2 Kings 22:1-10 - The beginning of Josiah's reforms
    • 2 Kings 22:1-2 - A summary of Josiah's reign
    • 2 Kings 22:3-7 - Josiah tells Hilkiah to rebuild the temple
    • 2 Kings 22:8-10 - The book of the law is found and read
  • 2 Kings 22:11-20 - King Josiah is confronted with the Book of the Law
    • 2 Kings 22:11 - The first reaction of discovering the Book of the Law
    • 2 Kings 22:12-13 - King Josiah seeks the Lord
    • 2 Kings 22:14-17 - God's word to Judah: Judgement is coming
    • 2 Kings 22:18-20 - God’s word to King Josiah: The judgment will not come in your day.

Examples to follow – When you realize you have sinned, confess immediately. When God has forgiven you, don't start relaxing. Do something about it.

Examples to not follow – Don't hide the law away as if it doesn't exist. It still is true whether you hide it or not.

Application – When you realize you have sinned, confess immediately. When God has forgiven you, don't start relaxing. Do something about it.

Prayer – Heavenly Father. When I sin, remind me that I need to confess and repent immediately. Help me to have a sincere and repentant heart. And help me to do something about my sin, and not to relax just because you have forgiven me.
