Isaiah 17-18

 Scripture – Isaiah 17-18

Observation –

  • Isaiah 17:1-11 - Doom on Syria and Israel
    • Isaiah 17:1-6 - The Lord speaks to Damascus and Ephraim
    • Isaiah 17:7-9 - The humble respond to the judgment of the Lord
    • Isaiah 17:10-11 - God's judgment will bring man's work to nothing.
  • Isaiah 17:12-14 - God will destroy the nation that brings doom on Israel and Syria
    • Isaiah 17:12-13a - The nations against Syria and Israel
    • Isaiah 17:13b-14 - God's judgment on those nations
  • Isaiah 18:1-6 - There is no need to make an alliance with Ethiopia
    • Isaiah 18:1-2 - A word to Ethiopia
    • Isaiah 18:3-6 - The Lord rejects help from Ethiopia
  • Isaiah 18:7 - Ethiopians come and worship God
In Isaiah 17:7-9 we see that the humble respond to the judgment of the Lord. For myself, when I am judged or punished I need to respond with humility.  God's way is best and I need to trust in his plans. For example, when things don't turn out my way, like I am not able to be on a volleyball team I need to trust God in his plans and respond with humility. His ways are best!
