Scripture – 2 Chronicles 10-11
Observation –
- 2 Chronicles 10:1-15 - Rehoboam and the nation at Shechem.
- 2 Chronicles 10:1-5 - The elders of Israel offer Rehoboam the throne of Israel.
- 2 Chronicles 10:6-7 - The counsel from Rehoboam's older advisers
- 2 Chronicles 10:8-11 - The counsel from Rehoboam's younger advisers
- 2 Chronicles 10:12-15 - Rehoboam answers Jeroboam and the elders of Israel harshly.
- 2 Chronicles 10:16-19 - The revolt against Rehoboam
- 2 Chronicles 10:16-17 Jeroboam leads those leaving Rehoboam’s rule.
- 2 Chronicles 10:18-19 - Israel rebels against the house of David.
- 2 Chronicles 11:1-12 - The reign of Rehoboam
- 2 Chronicles 11:1-4 - A prophet prevents a civil war
- 2 Chronicles 11:5-12 - Rehoboam turns his attention to defense.
- 2 Chronicles 11:13-23 - The godly of Israel migrate to Judah
- 2 Chronicles 11:13-16 - The godly of the northern kingdom migrate to the southern kingdom.
- 2 Chronicles 11:17 - The true strength of Judah.
- 2 Chronicles 11:18-23 - The family of Rehoboam.
Examples to follow – Have good counselors, because if you don't, it will lead to disaster. God is the reason behind every good thing.
Examples to not follow – Appointing or making man made things won't replace God's.
Sins to avoid – Thinking that your decisions are better than God.

Application – Don't think that your decisions are better than God's.
Prayer – Heavenly Father, you are the reason for every good thing. I know that sometimes I think that my decisions are better. I think that I can justify what I do, but I can't, because your word clearly says it is sin. Amen.
