Scripture – 2 Kings 1-2
Observation –
- 2 Kings 1:1-8 - Ahaziah’s injury.
- 2 Kings 1:1-2 - Ahaziah seeks another god to heal him
- 2 Kings 1:3-4 - God's message to Ahaziah through Eligah
- 2 Kings 1:5-8 - The messengers return to Ahaziah
- 2 Kings 1:9-18 - Eligah appears before Ahaziah
- 2 Kings 1:9-10 - Judgment comes upon the arresting soldiers.
- 2 Kings 1:11-12 - Judgment also comes upon a second captain.
- 2 Kings 1:13-15 - The third captain comes in humility and Elijah goes with him.
- 2 Kings 1:16 - Elijah delivers the same message to Ahaziah.
- 2 Kings 1:17-18 - Ahaziah dies and leaves no successor.
- 2 Kings 2:1-13 - Eligah ascends to heaven.
- 2 Kings 2:1-3 - The awareness of Eligah's coming departure
- 2 Kings 2:4-7 - The awareness of Elijah’s departure at Jericho and the Jordan.
- 2 Kings 2:8-10 - Elisha asks for a double portion.
- 2 Kings 2:11-13 - Elijah ascends into heaven.
- 2 Kings 2:14-25 - The beginning of the ministry of the prophet Elisha.
- 2 Kings 2:14-15 - Elisha continues after the pattern of Elijah.
- 2 Kings 2:16-18 - A futile search for Eligah
- 2 Kings 2:19-22 - The waters of Jericho are healed
- 2 Kings 2:23-25 - Judgement on the youths of Bethel
Examples to follow – Approach God with humility. Continue to follow God, despite the setbacks.

Application – Approach God with humilty in prayer.
Prayer – Heavenly Father. I am a sinner and you are my savior. Help me to come to you with humility and reverence. Help me to know that you are a holy God and at any time can smite me with fire, just as you did with the 102 soldiers. Amen.
