Observation –
- 1 Samuel 14:16-23 - The battle is won
- 1 Samuel 14:16-19 - Saul learns of the battle
- 1 Samuel 14:20-23 - Saul fights in the battle
- 1 Samuel 14:24-52 - Saul's foolish oath
- 1 Samuel 14:24 - Saul compels the army to not eat until he gets revenge
- 1 Samuel 14:25-30 - Jonathan unknowingly breaks the oath by eating
- 1 Samuel 14:31-35 - The soldiers of Israel sin because of Saul's foolish oath
- 1 Samuel 14:36-39 - Saul makes another foolish oath in response to God's silence
- 1 Samuel 14:40-44 - Jonathan is found by the casting of lots
- 1 Samuel 14:45-46 - The people rescue Jonathan from execution
- 1 Samuel 14:47-52 - Saul's many wars and his family.
Application – It is important to not make rash oaths because you don't get what you want.
Prayer – Dear God. Help me to not make rash oaths because I want something. Help me to read the bible and gain wisdom before making oaths. Amen.
