Scripture – Numbers 16
Observation –
- Numbers 16:1-40 - Korah's rebellion
- Numbers 16:1-3 - Korah gathers the sons of Israel.
- Numbers 16:4-11 - The Lord will appear tomorrow.
- Numbers 16:12-14 - Dathan and Abiram don't come up.
- Numbers 16:15-19 - Offer incense to the Lord.
- Numbers 16:20-30 - Get away from the men and touch none of them.
- Numbers 16:31-35 - The men are consumed with fire and the earth.
- Numbers 16:36- 40 - Make a reminder for the people.
- Numbers 16:41-50 - Murmuring and plague
- Numbers 16:41-42 - The people grumble.
- Numbers 16:43-48 - Offer atonement for the people.
- Numbers 16:49-50 - 14700 people died by the plague.
Application – God takes his commandments seriously.
Prayer – Dear God. You are a wrathful and holy God. You want us to follow your commandments. Help me to follow them and forgive me when I fail. Amen.
Sins to avoid – He is rebelling against God's appointed authorities
Promises to claim –
Examples to follow – Don't follow Korah in rebelling against God's authorities. Respond with humility like Moses. Leave it in God's hands
Commands to obey –
Summarize and apply – God punishes the people for complaining.
